Kiikii what software do you use? I love the way you paint skin so much. What brushes do you use? Have you ever thought about making a tutorial on how you paint skin/hair? I'm aiming for a look in the same ballpark as yours but I'm having such a hard time getting to that point.
This might come as a huge disappointment but I use Open Canvas 3, which is extremely old and probably entirely outdated. I use the default pencil tool at varying sizes. I never really liked painting in Photoshop, but I have messed around in Sai a bit. I haven’t really found a perfect brush set but I have been using ones posted by cakiebakie.
As for tutorials I have this one: http://kiikiibee.tumblr.com/post/57834542508/im-not-really-sure-how-useful-this-is-but-here but it’s a bit old. I’ve also uploaded a few speedpaints of more recent stuff. It’s not really a tutorial but it does show my process.
I’m not sure what other general advice I can give! I try to think about planes, and favor larger strokes over smaller ones. If an area is looking too overworked I’ll just go right over it with a few large strokes.

NOTE: These commissions will be tentatively offered until 12/18.
Holy moly holiday commissions! These are simpler line drawings and much less expensive than my usual commissions. (This time is extra special as I’ve added a rough color option as well!)
For these I please ask that you have visual references to send to me. If you’re doing more than a bust you’ll need to have something for their outfit as well! Right now I am imposing a limit of two commissions per person.
Please send all commission requests to kiikiibee@gmail.com , with the subject as “holiday commission” and please include the type of commission you’d like, all reference material, any deadlines (need it by Christmas??) and your tumblr name. All prices are listed for one character, paypal only.
I am good at drawing: ladies, fantasy, pretty/handsome guys, historical stuff, your tabletop/RP characters.
I am NOT good at drawing: mechs, robotics, monstrous creatures, super macho guys, crazy complicated weapons(reblogs are always appreciated!! thank you! <3)

Day 2: Character Development Meme
@maquila wanted me to join her in this so here it goes… I chose Epiphany (Acanthus/Free Council/Seers of the Throne), Bianca (Thyrsus/Silver Ladder), and Margot (from Adventure!) for this. Keep reading if you want to (slowly) know all about those ladies I keep drawin’. Day One is over here.
Day 2: Appearance
Epiphany Hayward
How do they usually dress? GRUNGE. Epiphany is all about leather jackets, denim shorts, and chunky boots. She occasionally wears something a bit nicer, but those are her staples.
What do they wear to sleep? A tanktop and some faded jersey shorts.
Do they wear jewelry? Loads. Lots of dangly earrings, multiple necklaces, bangles on each wrist, and always more than two rings. Lots of it is moon-themed.
Is there anything about their appearance they wish they could change? To be less of a surfboard, and to have her hair behave in humidity.
How would they look as the opposite sex? A tall, lanky guy with a mop of dark curls AND an undercut. Wears Pink Floyd tshirts, skinny jeans, and glasses with bright pink plastic frames.
What do they smell like? Why (do they wear the scent or does it occur naturally)? Nicotine from being a chain-smoker, and incense to try and make the house smell like something other than cigarettes.
Do they have an accurate mental picture of their appearance (how they see themselves versus how the world sees them)? Fee sees herself as much more regal than her outward appearance suggests, but she plays along for now.
Bianca Peterffy
How do they usually dress? Bianca tends to go… Not skanky, but certainly not very modest. Crop tops, form fitting dresses, plunging necklines, and short skirts are her staples. Mostly in white, bright colors or prints, but there’s a few somber things in there too.
What do they wear to sleep? If she wears anything, underwear and a tanktop.
Do they wear jewelry? She’ll wear earrings and a necklace, something to coordinate with her outfit.
Is there anything about their appearance they wish they could change? Bianca is pretty happy with how she looks, all things considered. Being a natural blonde would make her life a little easier.
How would they look as the opposite sex? An athletic guy with sideswept, blonde hair and dreamy green eyes. Always wearing something form-fitting and has an ass that looks amazing in riding pants.
What do they smell like? Why (do they wear the scent or does it occur naturally)? Naturally Bianca has a pleasant, almost musky smell but she usually wears a liberal amount of Chanel No. 5 perfume.
Do they have an accurate mental picture of their appearance (how they see themselves versus how the world sees them)? For the most part, yes. I think Bianca isn’t really self-aware enough to be bothered by how spacey or dumb she comes across as, unless someone specifically mentions it.
Margot Lancaster
How do they usually dress? Margot dresses for the occasion. If she’s on safari, it’s no-nonsense vest, shorts, and boots. In the city? She has to keep up appearances of being nobility, so it’s fussy gowns in the latest fashions.
What do they wear to sleep? A long nightdress. Sometimes she wears a dressing gown over that if she’s wandering around right before sleep.
Is there anything about their appearance they wish they could change? Margot wishes she was taller out of practicality. She also wishes she could look so effortlessly put together as her older brother, but don’t tell him that…
How would they look as the opposite sex? A thin but wiry teen with perpetually windblown blonde hair and mud on his shoes. He’s always losing his cufflinks.
What do they smell like? Why (do they wear the scent or does it occur naturally)? Margot smells of french perfume and hoppes gun oil. The gun oil just sort of gets there naturally.
Do they have an accurate mental picture of their appearance (how they see themselves versus how the world sees them)? Margot doesn’t see herself as the tiny, ‘eccentric’ Lady Lancaster. She’s more on par with an Amazonian queen or Greek figure, who can single-handedly do away with anything that means her harm.
